TRIXY's NEW "DO"!

We thought everyone should see Trixy at least once in "prissy" mode. Now we can yank the bows out. What do you think M? By the way M, stripped not clipped!

THANKSGIVING

It may be scrawny but it was delicious!
A quiet Thanksgiving at the Hellstroms. It was a pleasant change of pace, and we hope our kids all had a good time and plan to join us next year.

I COULDN'T RESIST...

... at least one more update!

THANKSGIVING MEMORIES

Two of my favorite photos from Thanksgiving weekend. Tyson in one of those moments that will show up in a future wedding video and Randy expressing how we all felt after pretty much demolishing 13 pies.

Hormones

Parents worry about sending children off to college. Worries about if they are safe, are eating correctly, have "good" friends and of course about their hormones not letting them get off track morally. I never imagined this type of a result from hormones. Emily volunteered to be a model for a theater make-up class for a friend. She says she got funny looks from people on campus, DUH! I'm more worried about the reaction from the two male South Pacific Islanders that high fived her!

Obsessed?

Okay, so Emily thinks I may have a little OCD when it comes to gasoline prices, so this may be my last update. Also, I might run into a problem with Homeland Security if I keep taking pictures of gas stations!

Go MOM!

It's getting better.... this is on Friday, November 4th.

Listen To Yer Mom

A couple of months ago Yer Mom asked me if we would ever see gas prices below $3.00 a gallon. "Duh, no," I answered, "it's $4.49 a gallon today here in Fillmore, I hope we see it go below $4.00 someday."

Well, here's the proof, gas for $1.99 on November 12, 2008 (I actually saw it for $1.97 this morning). This is really good news because it means I have a bigger Churro fund for Disneyland.
Now she's asking about $1.79 being possible!

The Borrowers

If we had any butter we could bake some cookies!
Mom, Dad and Scott went to Ephraim Sunday for Family Day at Emily's Snow College Ward.
After dinner, Emily's roomacrossthehallmates (Liz and McKala (?)) came through in true Brohl fashion with the butter needed to bake cookies.

Will Slap For Money

Oh, the leisurely times of the empty nesters. Time to garden, talk long walks on the beach, eat ice cream and warm chocolate chip cookies, work on long awaited projects in the house, oh what a leisurely time....
.....or, slap enough spouts to go to Disneyland!
p.s. Are the shorts stylish or what?

Heidi Comes Home From Oakcrest

No wait, those look like Emily's clothes, it must be free laundry day in Riverton.

A Dyslexic Birthday For Beverly!

Beverly enjoying a moment with her dyslexic birthday cake and candles.... Happy 64th Birthday.
Mark and Melissa Huyboom look on in disbelief.

Rick and Elise Hellstrom hosted the Crockett clan to celebrate matriarch Beverly's birthday on September 14th.

Other guests at this Sunday evening "soiree" include Jeff and Heather Crockett with son Fui. You should get a cat and name it Bosco, McMahon or Crowton or something similar.

Ben Crockett and Austin Huyboom enjoying outdoor mandatory fun time.

A Night On The Town

Paris and Nicole (Elise and Danett, you decide who is who), being driven in the limo (minivan) by Jeeves (Rick), after an evening with personal trainer (instructor) Holly (can't think of a famous one) at the exclusive South Jordan Club (Recreation Center).

Note the spacious accomodations and gourmet snacks that are provided for just such evening events.

LABOR DAY Camping

It was fun to get together with the whole family for a Labor Day camping trip.... thank you everyone for coming and participating in mandatory family fun. Wait, if it was mandatory then you had no choice.

Yer mom was in charge of making sure the fire was put out.... there are still no reports of fires in the Sawtooth National Forest as a result of her efforts! Thanks Yer Mom!

Here's the brave (and cold) crew after a fun bike ride.

Tyson mostly liked the dirt and sticks.

Give Me a Head With Hair, Long Beautiful Hair

Maybe we'll need to invest in a new hair straightening iron now that Emily's is in Ephraim!

Or, perhaps Dad's method of hair care is easier!

Off To Snow College

Emily Driving to college along the scenic byways of Sanpete County.

It's been 4 days since this picture, do you suppose it still looks this neat? Note the dog clock on the wall!

Open for what?

On Saturday Yer Mom and I drove with Emily down to Snow College and helped her get moved in to the dorm. We hope she's having a blast!!! Just not too big of a blast and that there's some studying involved in the blast. (Does everyone like the Elvis poster?)

What I Did on My Summer Vacation

Thanks to Kent having to drive on his most recent trip to Boise, I was able to hitch a ride and spend a couple of days with Heidi and Tyson and and evening and lunch with Randy. Tyson is such a cutie in his "swimming lessons" that I couldn't resist a few pictures.

Granny's House is Dry

Getting a drink of good tasting cold water in Riverton has always been a challenge but even more so when Tyson is in town!
We really should remember to not turn the camera or learn how to rotate pictures.

Card Counting in Phase 10

Heidi and Tyson were able to spend some time at Granny and Grumpy's while dad was at scout camp. Apparently Tyson is less attentive at card games than Grumpy and resorts to all types of distraction technics to throw off his opponents. You should really try the whole eyelid thing sometime Tyson.

A New Addition Set In Concrete

It may not be the Hollywood walk of fame, in fact we're glad it's not, but a new addition was made to the Hellstrom backyard in early June.

Weeding With Yer Mom

The mound! Family Home Evening was spent weeding "the mound." Yer mom started out all clean and everything with her little kneeling pad and pretty pink gloves. However, heat, an overabundance of weeds and lack of food lead to strange behavior.... "don't eat the weeds yer mom."

RETIREMENT PREVIEW

On Saturday mom and I had the great pleasure of taking a delightful 530 mile roundtrip drive to the youth conference site for this year.
In the process we got to engage in some of the types of activities that will fill our retirement years. :)
Think of the excitement, visiting and seeing quirky little sites along southern and northern and western and eastern byways and dining in the finest of establishments along the way.

SHAKE IT "M"

Tuesday night was Spring Dance Recital at RHS...... CHA-CHA! Full video available on request.

BEHIND THE SCENES AT A PIANO RECITAL

Mom had her Spring Piano Recital on May 2nd. She has reduced the number of students she teaches so the recital wasn't as long as some have been, although her recitals have never been long, by design. She has some really talented students and they were fun to listen too.

Ryan Clawson played the Piano Man, by Billy Joel, complete with the harmonica part.

Rachel Canova accompanied a celloist from RHS for one of her numbers. Scott, do you need to take your shoes off for a cello, or still just the trampoline? I would assume that shoes are still appropriate to minimize damage.... to the feet!

One promising young student with tons of already apparent talent, is Ashlynn Chugg. She played two delightful pieces from memory and did a wonderful job! (Her mom has access to this blog! :) )

The photo is of the Crockett family taking pictures of Chandler as he performs. I can only assume that there is a camera and a backup camera (can you say Monk), to assure that quality photos are obtained and the event adequately documented. Chandler can really play.

Hot fudge sundaes were served and a good time was had by all.

A DAY AT WORK

So, Heidi P. requested a current picture of me, and I thought I'd include it with a day on the job. They say that a bad day on the golf course is better than a good day in the office. I'm not sure that is right when the day on the golf course is trying to get owners and contractors together on what the course should look like after construction of a pipeline across it.

I think it looks pretty good, don't you? Fortunately it wasn't cold and snowing on May 2nd (it was on the 1st), so it's always nice to get out of the office for a while on a day like this. Hopefully in the coming weeks we'll get this course back looking like the Copper Club that it is, complete with the tailings pond and copper refinery backdrops, and the golfers won't continue to envision the course as Augusta National Golf Club in their memories from what it looked like last fall.
P.S. Did you know you can make yourself really skinny (well maybe not really skinny, but thinner) on a blog by sizing the pictures the way you want?

NEIGHBORS

Neighbors are a wonderful thing. They bring friendships, someone to borrow from, someone to talk about and sometimes increased property values. I hope our new neighbors aren't upset with the view of our humble abode and their potential diminished property value. The upside of the new home is that we could arrange to borrow things on a Sunday afternoon without leaving the house. Can you say "zipline?" My heck, someone should have mowed the lawn before taking pictures!

You asked for it.............

So here it is, mom and dad with a blog. First off, you can only imagine how often we'll update, what with our computer savy and all. Second, when we do you may be sorry. :) Dad
